"The Garden Story" - Salvation and Redemption Through Grace

Overall Narrative:

"The Garden Story" is a visual journey from the fall of humanity in the Garden of Eden to the promise of redemption through Christ's sacrifice in Gethsemane. The story is narrative told through the symbolism of flowers. The first painting, "The Fall and Promise," illustrates the despair of sin and the initial promise of redemption through Christ's blood. The second painting, "Redemption and Eternal Life," completes the story with a celebration of resurrection and eternal life, showing the fulfillment of that promise. The backdrop of both paintings with its waves of white and light blue, and the intertwining of white and yellow whisps and circles and yellow stains, symbolizes the overarching presence of God's love and grace throughout the journey of salvation.

Concept:

This painting portrays the profound narrative of humanity's fall and the promise of redemption through the symbolism of flowers. The bottom half of the painting is a haunting depiction of death and entanglement. The flowers here are withered and lifeless, their black centers symbolizing the void left by sin. The dark, intertwined roots and falling leaves represent the pervasive nature of sin and the resulting spiritual death. However, as the eye moves upwards, there is a glimmer of hope. Red flowers begin to emerge, still marred by black centers but dotted with white specks. These flowers symbolize the cleansing power of Christ's blood, offering new life and redemption. 

Scriptural Inspiration:

The imagery draws from the story of the Garden of Eden, where humanity first fell into sin, and the promise of salvation through Christ. Genesis 3 tells of the fall, while the red flowers signify the promise of redemption as foretold throughout the Old Testament and fulfilled in the New Testament. The white specks in the red flowers signify the new life and purity that Christ's sacrifice brings, as stated in 1 John 1:7, "The blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all sin."
