“In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth.” Genesis 1:1 ESV

My inspiration for the painting titled “Creation” is a profound exploration of the divine act of genesis, as described in the opening verse of Genesis 1:1 of the ESV bible “In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth.” The canvas comes alive with the symbolism of creation, capturing the very essence of the divine word.  The white on top of the composition evokes the notion of a pristine, white canvas upon which God begins the act of shaping the world. The dots of light that penetrate into the depths of darkness represent the radiant spark of life itself, suggesting the birth of all living things. The use of white metallic paint imbues the artwork with a heavenly luminescence, underscoring the idea that creation is sacred and of God. 

The second part of this artwork, featuring DNA-like strands raining down, is a fascinating and contemporary addition to the interpretation of creation. It offers a unique perspective on the intricate design and interconnectedness of life. The DNA strands cascading like raindrops from the heavens not only symbolize the diversity of life on Earth but also suggest that the very building blocks of life are a divine gift. This motif reinforces the idea that creation is an ongoing, dynamic process, where the blueprint of existence descends from God, permeating the darkness with light and life.
